Interested in Becoming a Training Partner and/or Assessor?

You need to have a minimum of 2 years experience as an Instructor or Assessor and be committed to training being fun and inclusive. 

You need to be willing to sign our charter.

You do not need to have Assistance Dog specific experience.  What you do need is to know or be interested in learning about shaping behaviours.

TRAINER AND ASSESSOR CHARTER


  • Positive Training Methods: Trainers/Assessors must use non-punitive, science-based, positive methods that avoid causing pain, fear, or psychological harm to dogs or handlers.

  • Holistic Approach: Training plans and assessment sessions should prioritize the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the dog and client.

  • No Aversive Devices: Trainers and Assessors pledge not to use or endorse correction-based remote training devices or aversive stimuli, including shock collars, spray collars, anti-bark collars, choke chains, and prong collars.

  • Fair Pricing: Trainers and Assessors should charge a reasonable and affordable fee for their classes, assessments and one-on-one sessions, ensuring their services are accessible.
